OVERVIEW

Laura received her undergraduate degree in Science of Business Administration with a concentration in Finance and Human Resources Management from the University of Puerto Rico, Mayagüez Campus, graduating magna cum laude in 2014. Laura then graduated summa cum laude from the Law School of the Pontifical Catholic University of Puerto Rico in 2017, earning the distinction of being ranked First of her class and receiving the Ayala Cadiz Family Law award. She was also an editor of the Puerto Rican Law Review, participated in the law school’s tutoring program as a tort’s tutor and worked as the professor assistant of a law school professor, who was the law school’s dean at the time, focusing on International Business Law, Monopolies and Federal Jurisdiction. While in law school, she interned for an administrative judge in the Puerto Rico Department of Consumer Affairs and for a judge in the Puerto Rico Superior Court, Court of First Instance. At the internship’s closing ceremony, she successfully delivered a speech about her experience in front of fellow students, superior court judges, appellate court judges and three judges from the Puerto Rico Supreme Court after being chosen by the program’s director.

 

Upon graduation, Laura received a recognition by the Puerto Rico Bar Association for having the Highest G.P.A. for the Pontifical Catholic University of Puerto Rico School of Law’s J.D. class of 2017. After being awarded a scholarship, she decided to pursue an LL.M. in Banking and Financial Law from Boston University School of Law, graduating in 2019. She then worked as an associate attorney of the labor and employment department in one of the leading firms in Puerto Rico and as a special prosecutor for the Puerto Rico Department of Justice. Laura then joined Casellas, Alcover & Burgos, P.S.C., in 2021.
